Aquino will run in 2010 Presidential Election
FROM INQUIRER.NET
Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III finally broke his silence and announced he would join the 2010 presidential race to continue the work of his famed mother, who played a crucial role in overthrowing dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
The announcement came following a highly-publicized spiritual retreat and made on the 40th day of former president Corazon Aquino’s death Wednesday, as the family ended the traditional period of mourning.
“I accept the plea of the people. I accept the advice of my parents. I accept the responsibility to continue the fight for the people. I accept the challenge to lead in this fight. I will run in the coming elections,” Aquino, 49, told a crowd of cheering supporters.

From Inquirer.net
Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas is no longer running for president in 2010. The Senator himself announced this at the press conference on Tuesday.
Roxas has not yet officially declared his presidential bid but some of his colleagues in the Liberal Party have publicly endorsed his candidacy.
Roxas’ decision came amid the increasing clamor for Senator Benigno “Nonoy” Aquino III to continue the legacy of his parents – the late president Corazon “Cory” Aquino and martyred senator Benigno Aquino Jr. – by running for a higher post.
